Diploma in Information Technology

The growing need of information technology professionals in the public and private sector calls for training of human resource personnel that can use all types of technologies that are available this era. Further the coming of social media networks and their use in both the informal and the formal sector as a means of marketing and communication has also brought in a new competition to assess markets, therefore this diploma in information technology is to train students on the required skills in the areas of programming, online marketing, information systems, using computers and all other areas that will be found necessary in the market that can be used to make them enterprising and creative. This programme will also make the gap left for employment of the diploma level students narrowed in both the country and the region.

Diploma in Business Management & Administration

This program is designed to help the young entrepreneurs to understand the required skills in running a business venture and at the same time appreciate the economic challenges that come with managing a business. Most businesses that starts today do not last for long, this is due to lack of entrepreneurship management skills exhibited by owners. In this program we cater for that gap, by giving the students skills that are required in the market, such as marketing of services and products, financial management, human resource management and communication skills among others. The program is also rich in the area of critical thinking that can help entrepreneurs to become dynamic.

Diploma in Accounting & Finance(DAF)

The growing number of small and medium enterprises, SMEs, in Uganda and neighboring countries today, calls for a well-trained force of financial managers. Small businesses don’t have accountants who can write/enter and keep proper books of accounts. The fear for numerating degree holders in these small business has also made it difficult for the SMEs to employee them. Therefore this programme is to help train knowledgeable and employable young men and women who can help man these SMEs so that they understand the importance of keeping proper books of accounts and also make them understand why it’s important to pay taxes for a business.

Diploma in Health Informatics

The management and analysis of health information and information systems is very important in healthcare processes. This programme provides an understanding of how all of the components of Healthcare work together; the importance of quality data and the importance of information privacy and security. In Uganda today we have many health challenges and the information of the patient is sometimes handled unprofessionally with little or no confidentiality and privacy. These make some patient run away and fail to attend to the available healthcare due to fear that their information will be revealed to the third party. Therefore this programme will teach the students the need for privacy and how to manage and deal with information and health records of patients from the time a patient comes in and goes out of the hospital/health center.

Diploma in Record and Information Science

Records and Information Science (RIS) is a discipline that aims at training information professionals and record assistants to serve different stakeholders in the development of information systems that can manage big data. With the increasing use of social media, the amount of data and information generated every day, the need for qualified records and information science professional is appropriate. This will help in managing information in datasets that can make it easy for researchers to retrieve data and information for analysis. Records on economy, health and other areas of community development will be key in this programmes. Today data analytics requires people who can analyze data and relate them to economics of a given area for development. Therefore RIS is considered a cross cutting discipline in humanities, sciences and technology as all areas are relevant and will be covered in the curriculum content.
